The CPHR Alberta and its Board of Directors continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking up to four new Board members to join us in the realization of our exciting future.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and fellow volunteer Directors, you will advise and govern, oversee key policy development and strategic direction and take on Board and Committee initiatives as needed. Most importantly you will represent the interests of your fellow CPHR Alberta members and other key stakeholders.
Specifically, we are looking for Directors who are willing to share their time, talent and be actively involved in shaping the future and long-term success of the CPHR Alberta. The ideal candidates will possess the following:
• Prior Board experience, either as a member of a Board or supporting a Board,
• Financial acumen and financial management experience,
• A general understanding of the environment in which the CPHR Alberta operates,
• Connections in the community that will assist the Board's linkage to stakeholders,
• Strategic planning expertise at a functional or organizational level,
• Government relations experience,
• Change management knowledge and experience,
• Leadership capability, and
• Experience with enterprise risk management and oversight.
To compliment the existing Board of Directors, preference will be given to candidates with previous Board governance experience supplemented by proven government relations, strong financial acumen and experience with enterprise risk management.
Your unwavering commitment to the Human Resources profession and the CPHR Alberta will lead you to actively and confidently participate in all Board meetings ensuring your voice and point of view are considered and discussions are complete and fulsome. Your strong interpersonal skills will ensure you forge meaningful relationships with fellow Directors, management, CPHR Alberta members and other key stakeholders.
YOUR TIME COMMITMENTS:
As part of your commitment as a CPHR Alberta Board member, you will attend five (5) Board meetings each year, including an annual Board retreat. You will participate on one to two Board committees, with up to five meetings per year each and you will participate in special Board initiatives as required. You will provide support to the CEO and staff when appropriate, and stay connected to members to ensure their interests and voice are represented at the Board table.
